One reference card for the connectivity and sync states. The same indicator sits in the top app bar and in the billing status bar along the bottom of the POS, and both always say the same thing.
Click either one to open Sync Status — the last sync time, how many records are waiting to upload, and a Review link when something needs looking at.

Red is the only state that asks you to act, and Sync Status names which cause it is — "sign in again", "review the stuck records" and "reload the app" are different problems with different fixes.
"Pending" is an online state. It means the connection is fine and a few records are still queued. When you are offline the indicator says Offline, and the queue count is shown as a detail rather than as its own state.
