When to use this: You are moving records from another system into BitMed and have not selected the CSV files yet.
Open Data Migration
Open Settings → Data Migration. The Data Migration entry is near the bottom of Settings. If it is unavailable, ask an owner for access to import data.

What you can import
The page accepts CSV files for six kinds of records:
| File | What it brings in |
|---|---|
| Products | Product catalog details, including names, units, schedules and tax fields. |
| Suppliers | Supplier contact and business details. |
| Customers | Customer details from your old system. |
| Doctors | Doctor details used by the pharmacy. |
| Opening Stock | Starting quantities and batches for products. |
| Rack Locations | Product rack locations. |
You may select up to six CSV files in one upload. For a product-only import, use the Products file. For product and opening-stock setup, keep the related files together as explained below.
Prepare the files
- Select Download setup workbook. Its Instructions sheet lists the columns for every sheet and which files belong together.
- Fill one sheet at a time. Use the workbook's column names and examples to prepare your records.
- Save each filled sheet as its own UTF-8
.csvfile. Excel names the file type CSV UTF-8. In LibreOffice, choose Text CSV and set the character set to UTF-8. Close the CSV and reopen the workbook before saving another sheet. - Select Choose CSV files or drop the CSV files into the upload area. The
.xlsxworkbook itself is not an import file.

Upload related files together
- Opening Stock needs the Products file in the same upload. Add Suppliers too if an Opening Stock row names a supplier by
supplier_ref,supplier_idorparty_ref, or if you want to keep supplier names. - Rack Locations needs the Products file in the same upload.
- Files imported in an earlier run do not satisfy these same-upload links. If you use a
ref_idin Products, the related file can point to it within this upload;ref_idis a temporary linking value, not the product's saved BitMed ID.
