Map columns and review the preview

On this page

When to use this: You have selected CSV files and need to check how BitMed will read them before importing.

Check each file

Under What each file is, confirm that BitMed identified each CSV as the intended type. The card names the file, shows its detected type, and shows which line is being read as the header. If the header is on another line, use Change header row. If a file is assigned the wrong type, choose the correct type before proceeding.

In the image: 1 is the file recognition and header-row card; 2 is the Products column mapping. The example file is recognised as Products.

Map columns

For each selected file, compare the source column and sample values on the left with the BitMed field selected on the right. Change a dropdown when the mapping is wrong. For Products, the required fields are name, manufacturer, category, salt_composition, drug_schedule and unit_type. The workbook supplies the accepted columns and an example row.

If your old export contains subtotal or other summary rows, Skip rows where this column is empty can exclude rows whose chosen identifier column is blank. Leave Do not skip any rows selected when you do not need that rule.

Confirm and review the preview

Tick I have checked these columns against the sample values for every file after reviewing its mappings. Changing a header row, mapping or skip rule means you must confirm that file again. Import stays disabled until all selected files are confirmed.

Read each preview's processed, ready and failed counts and inspect the reason shown for any problem row. These are pre-import results. On a Products preview, a Failed row may still be tried at import time; unreadable rows and certain invalid values are kept out. Correct the source CSV, remove it from this upload, and add the corrected file if needed.

In the image: 1 is the optional skip rule; 2 is the confirmation checkbox; 3 is the Products preview count; 4 explains how Failed rows are handled. The example shows 17 processed, 17 ready and 0 failed.

Next: check the numbers and run the import.
