Add a customer & find them later

Steps — fast, during billing

1. Press F3 on the bill → type the phone number. Matches on that number appear as a list — pick the right person and they're linked. If nothing matches, type the name in the name field → Enter to create and link in one go (→ BILL-07).

Steps — full record, from the Customers screen

1. Open Customers from the left menu.

   

   In the picture above, 1 is Customers in the left menu and 2 tells you how many you have and how many owe you money. 3 is each customer's outstanding Balance and their Credit Limit — the two numbers a credit sale is checked against. 4 is Add Customer.

2. Add customer — name and phone are enough to start; address, email and type can come later.

   

   In the picture above, 1 Phone and 2 Name are the only starred — required — fields. 3 Email and Address can wait. 4 is Customer Type, which is the discount profile: leaving it on Default (walk-in) applies your walk-in type's discount, if you have set one (→ CUST-04). 5 is Tags — free labels like Diabetic or Senior Citizen, with common ones suggested for you, and they show under the name in the list. 6 creates the record.

3. Find them later — search by name or phone from the same screen.

   

   In the picture above, 1 is the search box — it matches on name, phone or tag, so part of a name is enough. 2 is how many matched and 3 is the customer. From the row you can open their profile, edit them, or manage their tags.

Good to know

• New customers start with no credit limit (₹0) — name and phone are enough to create the record, but a credit sale will be blocked until you set a limit on their profile (→ CUST-03).
• Offline search works — search by name or phone reads from this device's local data, so it keeps working with no internet. A customer added on a different counter may take a moment to appear here until it syncs.
