Connecting the counter to your store

On this page

Use this guide to pair BitMed Link on a counter PC with your store.

You need to complete this setup once on each counter PC.

Before you start: BitMed Link must be installed on the counter PC (→ installing BitMed Link), you must be able to sign in to BitMed on that PC, the PC needs an internet connection, and you need to know which store the counter belongs to. Pair the counter only after BitMed Link has been installed and is running.

What pairing does

Pairing connects the counter PC to your store.

During pairing, BitMed Link:

  • Identifies the store for this counter.
  • Registers the counter with the store.
  • Gives the counter permission to communicate with other paired counters.
  • Saves the pairing so it remains active after a restart.

Once paired, counters in the same store can work together on the local network.

Pair the counter

1. Open BitMed

Open BitMed on the counter PC and sign in normally.

2. Find the pairing option

Look at the top of the BitMed screen.

When BitMed Link is running, you should see a banner reading "BitMed Link service detected. Pair this terminal session to enable local sync." with a Pair this session button.

If you do not see this option, make sure BitMed Link is running on the PC.

3. Click Pair this session

Click Pair this session — the button at the right-hand end of the banner.

Wait a few seconds while the counter connects to your store.

4. Confirm the pairing

After successful pairing, the pairing banner disappears.

You can also verify the connection by opening:

http://127.0.0.1:47831/v1/health

In the response, check that:

  • provisioned is true
  • cloudAnchored is true — a provisioned value alone does not prove that this installation is connected to your BitMed account
  • storeId contains your store ID
  • the service status is healthy

The exact fields shown may vary between BitMed Link versions.

5. Check Sync & Diagnostics

This step is optional but recommended.

In BitMed, open:

Settings → Sync & Diagnostics → BitMed Link Diagnostics

Under Service, check that Paired reads yes and Token reads valid.

Check Local API, Peer port listening, and Firewall rule for an ok result. mDNS and UDP broadcast appear as separate checks; discovery may remain degraded until another paired counter is available. Cloud reachable should be ok while the internet is available. Fix any failed firewall or pairing check before using local sync. See the diagnostics checks.

Repeat on every counter

Pair each counter PC separately.

For every counter:

  1. Open BitMed.
  2. Sign in.
  3. Click Pair this session.
  4. Wait for the pairing to complete.
  5. Verify the connection if needed.

Once two or more counters are paired with the same store, they can communicate with each other when they are on the same local network.

You do not need to enter an IP address manually.

After pairing

Pairing is saved

You normally do not need to pair the counter again after:

  • Restarting Windows.
  • Restarting BitMed Link.
  • Installing a BitMed Link update.

The counter must be online periodically

BitMed Link may need internet access for store registration, authentication, and other cloud operations.

Keep the counter connected to the internet during normal use.

Local network communication

Paired counters communicate with each other over the local network.

Make sure the counter PCs that need to communicate are connected to the same network (→ network and firewall).

If pairing does not work

Use the following checks based on what you see.

What you seeWhat it meansWhat to do
No pairing bannerBitMed Link may not be running on the PC.Check that the BitMed Link Windows service is running, then reopen BitMed.
Pairing failedThe PC could not complete the pairing request.Check the internet connection, sign out and sign in again, then try Pair this session again.
BitMed Link needs re-pairingThe counter needs to register again with the store.Click Re-pair session. If it continues, check the diagnostics page.
Credentials need to be regeneratedThe counter's local security credentials are no longer valid.Follow the on-screen instructions or contact support with the diagnostics information.

Quick verification

After pairing, confirm these three things:

  1. BitMed Link service is running on the counter PC.
  2. Pairing is successful and the counter is associated with the correct store.
  3. Other paired counters can communicate when they are connected to the same local network.

If all three checks pass, the counter is ready to use.

If pairing still does not work, collect the information shown in:

Settings → Sync & Diagnostics → BitMed Link Diagnostics

and provide it to your BitMed support team.
