When to use BitMed Link: your pharmacy has two or more billing counters and you want them to stay in sync even if the internet goes down.
BitMed Link is a small Windows app that runs in the background on each billing counter PC. It lets BitMed counters in the same store communicate directly over your local Wi-Fi or LAN.
There is no separate server to manage, and you do not need to keep BitMed Link open on screen.
Why BitMed Link is needed
BitMed POS can continue billing when the internet is unavailable — see Billing while offline. However, without internet, each counter normally works with its own local data until it reconnects.
That means one counter may not immediately see what happened on another counter.
For example, during an internet outage:
- a sale completed at one counter may not immediately update the stock shown on the other counters
- a bill created at one counter may not immediately appear in the other counters' Sales list
- a parked bill may not be available from another counter
- a return processed at one counter may not immediately be visible on the others
BitMed Link keeps the counters connected over your local network, so these updates can still move between them while the internet is unavailable.
What BitMed Link does
When BitMed Link is installed and paired on all billing counters in the store, the counters share important updates with each other over the local network.
| Action on one counter | What happens on the other counters |
|---|---|
| Complete a bill | Stock is updated and the bill appears in the Sales list |
| Process a return or credit note | The return status is updated on the other counters, helping prevent the same quantity from being returned twice |
| Park a bill | The parked bill can be recalled and completed from another counter |
| Add a customer or doctor | The new record becomes available on the other counters |
When the internet is available, BitMed continues to sync with the cloud as usual. BitMed Link is mainly used to keep counters in sync with each other when the internet connection is unavailable or unstable.
When the internet comes back, pending data continues syncing to the BitMed server automatically.
What BitMed Link is not
- It is not a replacement for the internet. Cloud sync, reports, updates, and other online services still need an internet connection.
- It is not a separate server. You do not need a "main" computer, and there is no special order in which counters must be switched on.
- It is not remote access. BitMed Link connects BitMed counters only within the same store and local network.
- It is not required for a single-counter pharmacy. If you use only one billing counter, BitMed's normal offline mode is enough.
