When to use this: a counter PC is being replaced, repaired, sold, or removed from the store.
Before you start: keep the old PC online and connected to the store network. Open BitMed Link Diagnostics and confirm that there are no pending sync events before uninstalling BitMed Link.
Remove BitMed Link from the old PC
Before uninstalling BitMed Link, make sure the counter has finished syncing.
- Open Settings → Sync & Diagnostics → BitMed Link Diagnostics.
- Check that the counter is connected and there are no pending events.
- Open Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
- Find BitMed Link.
- Click Uninstall.
- Confirm the Windows permission prompt if it appears.
Windows will stop the BitMed Link service and remove the application from the PC.
What happens to the data?
Uninstalling BitMed Link does not remove bills or other data that has already been synced to BitMed.
However, if the old PC has pending data that has not finished syncing, do not uninstall it yet. Keep the PC online and allow the pending data to sync first.
If you cannot bring the old PC online or the sync does not complete, contact BitMed support before uninstalling it.
Set up the replacement PC
Treat the replacement PC as a new counter.
1. Install BitMed Link
Download and install the latest BitMed Link MSI on the new PC.
Follow the installing BitMed Link on a counter PC guide.
2. Connect the PC to the store network
Connect the new PC to the same local network used by the other counters.
Both Ethernet and Wi-Fi are supported.
3. Sign in to BitMed
Open BitMed on the new PC and sign in with the appropriate account.
4. Pair the new counter
Click Pair this session and complete the pairing process.
See connecting the counter to your store for detailed steps.
5. Verify the connection
Open:
Settings → Sync & Diagnostics → BitMed Link Diagnostics
Confirm that:
- BitMed Link is running.
- The counter is paired.
- Other counters can be discovered.
- There are no critical sync or network errors.
The other counters should discover the new counter automatically when they are connected to the same store network.
What you need to configure again
A replacement PC is treated as a new counter.
You may need to configure any settings that belong specifically to the PC or counter, such as:
- Windows settings
- BitMed sign-in
- BitMed Link pairing
- Printer settings
- POS or billing-counter settings
Do not copy the BitMed Link local database or configuration files from the old PC to the new PC unless BitMed support specifically instructs you to do so.
If the old PC stopped working before it could sync
If the old PC failed before all local data was uploaded, do not immediately reinstall or delete its data.
Some pending records may still be recoverable from the old PC.
Contact BitMed support and provide:
- The counter name or identifier.
- The approximate time the PC stopped working.
- What happened before the failure.
- Whether the PC can still start.
- Any BitMed Link diagnostics that you have available.
Support can then determine whether the pending records can be recovered.
If the old PC is being permanently removed
If the PC is being sold, discarded, or permanently removed from the store:
- Make sure all required data has finished syncing.
- Uninstall BitMed Link.
- Ask BitMed support to remove the old counter from the store if it is still registered.
- Follow your organization's normal Windows data-removal or device-wipe procedure before giving the PC to another person.
Removing the application from Windows does not necessarily remove the counter's registration from the store.
