When to use this: a counter is asking you to update BitMed Link, or you want to know how updates reach the shop.
BitMed Link checks for new versions automatically.
When an update is available, a notification appears on the counter PC. You can install the update directly from the notification.
How updates work
BitMed Link checks for updates automatically when the counter is online.
When a new version is available:
- A notification appears in the bottom-right corner of Windows.
- The notification shows the available version.
- You can choose Update now or Remind me later.
- BitMed Link downloads and installs the update in the background.
The update is downloaded before installation starts. If the download is interrupted, the currently installed version remains available.
Update BitMed Link
1. Wait for the update notification
When an update is available, you will see a BitMed Link notification in the bottom-right corner of Windows.
The notification includes:
- The new BitMed Link version, and the version this counter has today — for example,
Update available: 1.0.1.13 (you have 1.0.1.0) - Update now
- Remind me later
If you are not ready to update, click Remind me later. BitMed Link will check again later.
In the picture above, 1 is the notification itself and 2 is the Update now button you click in the next step.
2. Click Update now
Click Update now to start the update.
BitMed Link will:
- Download the new version.
- Install the new version.
- Restart the BitMed Link service.
The update normally takes only a short time.
3. Continue using BitMed
After the update finishes, BitMed Link starts again automatically.
Your existing BitMed Link configuration and pairing remain in place, so you do not normally need to pair the counter again.
During the short update process, local counter-to-counter sync may be temporarily unavailable. It resumes after BitMed Link starts again.
4. Update the other counters
If your store has multiple counter PCs, update BitMed Link on each counter when its update notification appears.
The counters do not have to be updated at exactly the same time.
Check for an update yourself
Open the Downloads page in your BitMed account to see the version offered for Windows. Compare it with the installed version shown in BitMed Link Diagnostics. If a newer installer is available, follow Updating manually below.
If you choose "Remind me later"
If you click Remind me later, BitMed Link does not install the update immediately.
The update notification will appear again when BitMed Link checks for updates later.
If the counter is offline when an update becomes available, BitMed Link can check for the update after the internet connection is restored.
Updating manually
If BitMed support provides a newer BitMed Link installer, you can update manually:
- Download the new
.msiinstaller from the trusted BitMed source. - Run the installer on the counter PC.
- Follow the installation steps.
- Allow the installer to upgrade the existing BitMed Link installation.
You normally do not need to uninstall the existing version first.
For the complete installation procedure, see installing BitMed Link on a counter PC.
What happens to your data and settings?
Updating BitMed Link does not normally require you to set up the counter again.
After an update:
- Store pairing is preserved.
- Existing local data is preserved.
- Installer firewall defaults can be restored; have your IT team recheck any custom restrictions (→ network and firewall).
- BitMed Link starts automatically after the update.
Important notes
- Keep the counter connected to the internet when an update is available.
- Do not turn off the PC while an update is being installed.
- If you have multiple counters, update each counter separately.
- If an update fails, do not repeatedly uninstall and reinstall BitMed Link. Contact your BitMed support team and provide the error message or diagnostics information.
Verify the update
Check the installed version and connection from inside BitMed:
Settings → Sync & Diagnostics → BitMed Link Diagnostics
Check that BitMed Link is running and the counter is still paired with your store.
If the counter does not reconnect after the update, use the diagnostics information when contacting support — see a counter is not syncing for how to export it.
