How to Hold (Park) & Recall Bills

On this page

When to use this guide: When a customer needs to step away temporarily (for example, "I forgot my wallet in the car") so you can serve the next customer in line without losing the current bill items.

Step 1: Hold (Park) the Current Bill

Press F4 on your keyboard while working on a bill.

  • The current bill is parked safely in memory.
  • The screen instantly clears so you can start a new bill for the next customer.
  • Note: Stock is not deducted from inventory while a bill is held.

Step 2: Serve Other Customers

Bill and checkout other customers at your counter as normal.

Step 3: Recall the Held Bill

Important — this works differently than you might expect: Held bills are not limited to the device or session that held them. If a bill is held on one device/session at a store, it will show up in the Held Bills (Recall) list on every other device at that same store, and any device at that store can recall it — not just the one that held it.

When the original customer returns:

  1. Press F5 on your keyboard to open the Held Bills list.

  2. Use your arrow keys to highlight the customer's held bill (showing time held, customer name, and item count) and press Enter.

  3. The bill reloads onto your screen with all items and quantities intact. You can now proceed to payment (F7) as usual.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many bills can I hold at the same time? You can hold multiple bills at once without any issues.

Do held bills stay saved if I sign out or restart the computer? Yes. Held bills are stored safely in your local device database, so they remain available even if you log out, close the application, or experience a power failure.

What happens if a medicine price changes while a bill is held? When recalled, the bill keeps the exact medicine prices that were active at the moment you parked the bill.
